Maltese newspapers include In-Nazzjon Taghna and L'Orizzont while the popular English-language dailies areThe Malta Independent, The Times of Malta and Malta Today.

The primary television networks are Television Malta (TVM), Super One TV and Net TV. Prominent radio stations include Radio Malta, Super One Radio, Radio 101, the commercial station Bay Radio and the Catholic Church station RTK.

Maltacom Plc, Melita Cable and Vodafone Malta are the telecom companies offering fixed telephony and mobile phone services. BellNet, Euroweb, MaltaNet, Melitanet and Waldonet are the major internet service providers.

Art and Culture
Malta has developed a diverse culture in the presence of various ethnic groups which include French, English, Arab, Greek and Spanish inhabitants. The majority of the population is native Maltese people who belong to the prehistoric Carthaginians and Phoenicians groups with some Italian influences. Malta's architecture has been influenced greatly by the western countries. Popular handicrafts include Malta weave, pottery, blown glass, ceramics, dolls, lace, copper and brass items. Malta is also known for its gold and silver filigree work and handmade lace.

A popular music festival known as Malta Jazz Festival is held in the month of July. "Ghana" is a very common form of music, which involves a musical argument accompanied with guitar in a combination of West European and Arabic mode. Tambourine is another musical instrument played mainly for the folk music. Lately, band music is also becoming popular.

Maltese (a Semitic language) and English are the official languages. Italian is also widely spoken. A majority of population (around 98%) are Roman Catholics which is also the declared state religion by the Maltese constitution. A small minority also follow Islam, Buddhism and Baha'i Faith along with Protestants and other Christian sects.

Sports and Recreation
The national sport is football which is also the most popular along with swimming, water polo, tennis, squash and horse riding. Popular recreational activities include go-karting, abseiling, rock-climbing, game fishing, mountain biking and water sports like scuba diving and snorkeling.

The parish church at Mosta is Cathedral size, and has one of the largest unsupported domes in the world. Splendid domes are a hallmark of Maltese churches with huge dimensions bigger than the surrounding village houses.

Sailing and Yachting

Regattas are held from April to November, many of them starting from the Royal Malta Yatch Club. The principal events are the Comino Regatta in June, the Malta to Syracuse (Sicily) race in July and the Rimini / Malta / Rimini race in August.
