Organisations

Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and other civil society organisations are working actively to improve health service delivery, address gender-disparity issues and defend human rights.

The Malaysia AIDS Council, The National Cancer Council, the Federation of Family Planning Association of Malaysia, and Citizens' Health Initiative are leading the way in providing services in their respective areas of concern. Amnesty International and other local NGOs such as Persatuan Hak Asasi Manusia Malaysia, and Suara Rakyat Malaysia and Aliran Kesedaran Negara are some of the NGOs working to develop responses, build capacity and find ways to raise awareness of perceived human rights breaches.

Organisations can apply to become recognised NGOs to the Registrar of Societies or Registrar of Companies and under the respective provisions of the Societies Act or the Companies Act.
