Kenya has a unicameral National Assembly consisting of 210 members elected for up to five years from single member constituencies on the basis of proportional representation and 12 non-constituency members nominated by the President. The President appoints The Vice-President and cabinet members from the National Assembly. The Attorney-General and speaker are ex-officio members of the Assembly. The President is directly elected and limited to two five-year terms. The judiciary is headed by a High Court consisting of a Chief Justice, High Court judges and Court of Appeal judges, all elected by the President. Local administration is divided between 69 rural districts each headed by a Presidential appointed commissioner. Districts form seven rural provinces.
