
Kimathi University College of Technology (KUCT)
Kimathi University College of Technology (KUCT) is located at the slopes of the scenic ice capped Mount Kenya at the equator. It is named in honour of a celebrated freedom fighter Dedan Kimathi who led the Mau Mau liberation movement in Kenya in the 1950s. It is 160 km North-East of Nairobi. KUCT was established in August 2007.

The KUCT's vision is: "To be a premier technological University excelling in quality teaching, research and technology transfer".
Its focus is on becoming a centre of excellence in undergraduate training, research and postgraduate training, and community service. To rapidly achieve its goals, KUCT plans to establish partnerships in education provision, research, and community service with educational institutions and organizations both in Kenya and abroad. The University is also interested in working with individual researchers and Professors who could serve at the University on short term visits or take up contract positions.
KUCT offers degrees in Engineering, ICT, and Business. The degrees offered include B.Sc. in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Civil, Telecommunications and Information Engineering, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Information Technology, and Bachelor of Commerce.
Research Collaborations
KUCT is seeking collaborations in establishment of the following research centers: Laser Science and Technology; Bio-Technology; Bio-Medical Engineering; ICT; Energy; Water and Environment. These will be for research and postgraduate training. It also plans to establish, in collaboration with other institutions, extension and international consultancy units in agro-processing, engineering design; ICT, economics and business; and areas covered by the research centers.

Business Collaborations
KUCT is also looking for investors to partner with in the development of a Wildlife Sanctuary and an Eco-lodge. These will utilize an adjoining huge forest, a part of which is in KUCT, and the immense tourism resources in the Mt. Kenya region.
