Electricity and Power
Electricity is generated in Kenya by hydro, geothermal, thermal and wind power plants. The Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) is the leading electricity generation company; it now operates in a liberalised market where four other companies account for about 20% of electricity. The Kenya Power and Lighting Company transmits, distributes and retails electricity throughout the country. The Energy Regulatory Commission is the regulator for the energy sector.
