The main newspapers of Gambia are The Point, Foroyaa, and The Independent.

There are two TV stations, The Gambia TV (a state-run channel) and a private satellite channel Premium TV. The Radio Gambia is the national broadcasting station and West Coast Radio and City Limits Radio are private radio stations.

Art & Culture
The Gambia is a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural society. There are many tribes but the main ones are Mandinka, Wolof, Fula and Jola, each having its own language and traditions.

The major religion of The Gambia is Islam with over 90% Muslims and the rest are mostly Christians or hold animist beliefs. The official language of The Gambia is English, while other languages commonly spoken are Fula, Wollof and Mandinka.

Sports & Recreation
Football is a very popular sport especially among the youth. Wrestling is the traditional national sport and contests can be watched in most towns and villages. A league football championship is organised by The Gambia Football AssociationCricket and golf are also played.

Gambian resorts cater for the watersports, such as windsurfing, jet-skis and surfing. Sailing is possible at The Gambia Sailing Club. A notable event is the race to Dog Island. Sea and river fishing is good all throughout the year and sport-fishing boats are available for sea-angling trips.

Gambia Football Association

The Association was founded in 1952. It organizes the national football league and the national team.
