Welcome viewers to the beautiful small country located 13 degrees north of the equator called the Gambia and often referred to as the "Smiling Coast of Africa". The Gambia is a wonderful country in the western coast of Africa surrounded by Senegal except at the mouth of the Atlantic Ocean where it has an opening to the sea.
The Gambia is well accredited for its peace, tranquillity and warmth given the friendly nature and receptiveness of her people. These golden values and attributes make the country a popular tourist destination. It is blessed with wonderful sandy beaches, good wildlife and lots of sunshine all year around with temperatures reaching 32 degrees Celsius during the dry season.
The Gambia enjoys a cordial mix of people of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The country is also a haven of religious tolerance with both Muslims and Christians interacting freely on a daily basis. This is a true reflection of our democratic system of multi party system of governance based on the will of the people.
Since the birth of a second Republic in 1994, the country has seen rapid and unprecedented development in key sectors of the economy namely Education, Health and Agriculture as well as Infrastructure. The Gambia can now boast of a university, which provides tertiary education to not only the technocrats but also to traditional rulers. This landmark achievement goes parallel with many schools, hospitals and roads that have been constructed over the recent past. Government has also created an enabling environment with the setting up of the Gambia Investment Promotion Free Zones Agency (GIPFZA) being a one stop shop for all investment ventures in The Gambia.
