CHOGM 2009
Commonwealth Heads of Government met in Trinidad and Tobago from the 27th to 29th November 2009 for CHOGM 2009.
The event's theme of Fundamental Values and Principles: The Modern Commonwealth presented a range of issues under discussion.
The Opening Ceremony included an address by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Heads of Government conveyed their sincere appreciation to the Government and people of Trinidad and Tobago for the warm hospitality extended to them.
In accordance with the criteria and procedures agreed at their last meeting in 2007, The Commonwealth warmly welcomed Rwanda into the family as its 54th member.
The next CHOGM will be held in Perth, Australia in 2011.
